GuideLine Africa is building the continent's first vetted guide network. We connect experienced guides with quality operators and DMCs who take guiding seriously. Not a job board. A network built on standards.
Finding consistent, quality work as a guide in Africa has always relied on who you know and who happens to be hiring that week. GuideLine Africa changes that. We build long-term relationships between guides and operators, based on shared standards, destination experience and the right match between what a guide delivers and what an operator actually needs.
We work with tour operators and DMCs who invest in their guide teams. You will not be placed with companies who treat guides as an afterthought.
We actively match guides to operator needs across multiple clients. More consistent work across more operators, without you having to chase it yourself.
We only work with operators who treat guides professionally. If an operator has a history of poor guide treatment, unreliable payment or disrespectful working conditions, they do not access our network.
Access to onboarding programmes, brand training and performance feedback that helps you grow, not just fill a role for a season.
When an operator brief comes in that matches your experience, destinations and availability, we contact you directly. You are not waiting on a listing. We are working on your behalf.
As GuideLine Africa places you with more operators and your track record builds, your profile strengthens. Performance is recognised, not just assumed.
"Guides are the most important person in any travel company. They are the product. Everything else is logistics."
We built GuideLine Africa because the industry does not treat guides that way. We intend to change that, one placement at a time.
Not every guide who applies will be accepted. That is not because we are exclusive for the sake of it. It is because the value of the network depends on every guide in it meeting a standard. Here is what we assess.
Minimum two years of active guiding experience. We check this through references and employment history, not just your word.
Two verifiable professional references from operators, lodges or companies you have worked with. We contact them.
The ability to communicate clearly with travellers, operators and GuideLine Africa. In English as a minimum, additional languages are an advantage.
We conduct background checks on all accepted guides. Any undisclosed issues identified after acceptance will result in removal from the network.
Valid first aid certification is required as a minimum. Additional qualifications and licences relevant to your guiding type are assessed and noted.
Guides in the network agree to complete operator onboarding before each placement and to participate in post-trip performance feedback.
We review every application personally. This is not an automated system. A real person reads your form, checks your references and makes a decision.
Complete the guide application form below. Be thorough, it is your first impression. Incomplete applications are not reviewed.
We contact your references and conduct a background check. This typically takes three to five working days. We will keep you updated throughout.
Accepted guides receive a confirmation that they are active in the network. We hold your details, experience and destinations on file and begin matching you to relevant operator briefs as they come in.
When a placement opportunity matches your profile, we contact you directly. Before each placement you complete a short brand onboarding specific to that operator.
Complete the application form. We review every submission personally and respond within five working days. If your application is successful, we will contact you directly to complete the reference and background check process.
